The Ticknor Society

The Ticknor Society is an organization of book collectors, booksellers, librarians, historians, archivists, conservators, printers, publishers, writers, and all lovers and readers of books. We are dedicated to the enjoyment, promotion, and support of books and book culture. George Ticknor used several bookplates throughout his life, including the small engraved one shown here bearing the motto, "Suum cuique," Latin for "To each his own."

Oratoria Dominica: Five Centuries of the Lord's Prayer in Print: Curator's tour with Sarah St.Germain and Damon DiMauro

    Jenks Library, Gordon College, Wenham

The exhibition explores different translations of The Lord's Prayer found in the library's Vining Rare Book Collection. We will learn why this text was one of the first ones to be translated by missionaries, and how it became a way for printers to showcase the many different typefaces available for use at the time.
